A great glaze for your Ham can make or break the Christmas dinner, so be sure to impress with the Angliss Perfect Ham Glaze recipe!
Ingredients:
- Whole Christmas Leg Ham
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 1/2 cup Honey
- 2 tbsp Dijon Mustard
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon, ground
- 1/4 tsp Cloves
- 4 cloves Garlic, crushed (or easy minced garlic)
Method:
- Rest Ham at room temperature for 1-2hours. Once at room temp, preheat your oven to 150°c.
- Remove the rind/skin off the Ham, leaving the fat and score into a diamond pattern.
- Place the Ham in a baking tray; pour 3/4 cup of water into the base of the pan and cover the ham with two pieces of foil or parchment paper and bake for 30 minutes.
- Heat 1/2 cup butter in a small saucepan over medium heat until golden brown. Add in 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup honey, 2 tbsp dijon mustard, 1/4 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 tsp cloves, stirring to mix together well until the brown sugar has completely dissolved (about 2 minutes).
- Reduce heat to low and add in 4 garlic cloves, crushed. Allow it to become fragrant, cooking for a further 1-2minutes until the glaze begins to simmer, then set it aside and let it cool to lukewarm.
- After 30 minutes, remove the Ham from the oven and increase the temp to 220°c. Discard the foil or parchment paper and pour 1/3 of the glaze all over the Ham, brushing in between the cuts.
- Return to the oven and bake uncovered for 15 minutes. Brush again with 1/3 of the glaze and pan juices.
- Repeat step 6 with the last 1/3 of the glaze and pan juices, baking until a dark golden-brown crust has formed. If your crust is still pink, turn on your oven grill for 2-5minutes, while keeping an eye on it so it doesn't burn from the sugar.
- Let the Ham rest for 10-20 minutes before slicing.
- Serve and Enjoy!
